Relatives of the victims of the Omagh bombing will lay flowers at the site of the blast in the Co Tyrone town this afternoon. Today marks 25 years since a 500lb car bomb detonated in the town centre killing 29 people, and unborn twins. 220 others were injured.
A commemoration will also take place in Buncrana, Co Donegal this afternoon to remember the three young boys from there who died. They had been on a day trip to Omagh. Lisa Dillon’s 8-year-old brother Oran was on the trip and was killed in the blast.
She says she remembers it like yesterday. "I will never, ever forget that day. Just the waiting, hours and hours of waiting that went through the night and into the morning. Then getting the call that morning; the phone rang and it was my daddy to tell the news that our wee Oran was dead. My mammy just dropped to the ground and was screaming and screaming," she added.
