Nationwide protests are taking place today because of overcrowding and closures of Accident and Emergency services in Hospitals. Protests will also take place locally at the A&E in Navan Hospital and at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Hospital groups have organised the demonstrations to start at 1pm in response to the crisis in Irish Hospitals. One TD has warned sick children are sleeping in cars due to the overcrowding.
Aontú's Peader Tobin, Chair of The Save Navan Hospital says people are infuriated. "People are furious at the moment; on Thursday night sick children were forced to sleep in cars in the carpark of Drogheda pediatrics A& E.
"And last week we have 11 ambulances which had to wait for five hours to off-load sick patients into the overflowing adult A&E. That meant that ambulances weren't available in the whole region for an extended period of time," he added.
