The Minister for Health has confirmed that changes to the NEDOC services have been postponed until January 2023.
Deputy Brendan Smith told Northern Sound this morning that the HSE held discussions with the Board of NEDOC regarding the proposal to reconfigure the GP out-of-hours service from this month.
The Cavan/Monaghan TD told Minister Stephen Donnelly during Dail discussions that those changes would negatively impact patients throughout this region.
The Minister highlighted how the GP out of hours service was a private entity that was funded by the HSE.
Meanwhile, Deputy Smith says he remains hopeful that a permanent solution can be found between now and January.
"I would sincerely hope, that in the meantime, the resolution of the issues can be achieved to ensure that we do not have a reduction in the level of services," he continued.
"NEDOC is a critical service and is very important for people in Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Meath."
