20 candidates have been nominated to run in the up coming General Election in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency.
Nominations closed on Saturday at midday with 21 people nominated but 1 has decided to withdraw their name. All 20 will now contend for the five seats that are up for grabs in Cavan and Monaghan.
The constituency includes the entire area of both County Cavan and County Monaghan, taking in areas like Cavan town, Monaghan town, Clones, Cootehill, Belturbet, Bailieborough, Castleblayney and Carrickmacross. It previously included parts of North Meath. 20 is a record number of candidates that has ever contested a General Election in Cavan/Monaghan constituency resulting in a much longer ballot paper on November 29th.

Mark Moore (The National Party), Shane Mulligan (Liberty Republic), Emma Hendrick (PBP), Eddie O’Gara (Green Party), Feargal Joseph Deery (Independent), and Jimmy Stavrous Mee (Independent)
