A Cavan councillor has urged motorists to be "mindful" of others when travelling along the N3.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Shane P O'Reilly said that as well as issues with white lines not being visible on various junctions, both sides of the N3 are like a "bottle neck" particularly since road works have continued in Virginia.
In addition to this, he pointed out that motorists were using back roads close to the motorway in a "rat race" manner, particularly on the Munterconnaught side of the N3. He is appealing to drivers to "think about" the people who are living along these rural roads.
"There are people there who really need our consideration on all these routes and it's an issue that has been going on for quite some time.
"But it has been completely exacerbated by works going on in different places and I think it is something that we have to look at before there is a serious accident," Cllr O'Reilly added.
