Two Gardai based in Trim have received high praise this week after their quick thinking saved the life of a baby girl. A woman arrived at the garda station in a distressed state carrying her three month old baby girl who was unresponsive.
The closest hospital is15km away and Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray who were on-duty at the station immediately responded with lifesaving CPR. The baby regained consciousness and was cared for until paramedics arrived.
An Garda Siochana said that it was the quick reaction of both Gardaí combined with their skill and ability to remain calm under pressure that saved the baby's life. It added that both mother and baby are now doing well and have fully recovered from what was "a very traumatic experience".
