Over a quarter of all workplace accidents in meat plants this year happened in Cavan.
In a response to a written question by Social Democrats TD Holly Cairns, it was revealed 48 of the 176 reported accidents in meat plants between December 1st 2019 and November 30th 2020 were in Cavan.
This accounts for 26 per cent of all such incidences.
The injuries in Irish meat plants varied in severity from sprains and strains to open wounds, concussion and amputation.
Seven accidents, or 4 per cent of the national figure, were in Longford.
There were three recorded accidents in County Monaghan, which made up 2 per cent of all accidents in Ireland.
