Farmers and landowners across the Shannonside Northern Sound region are being called on to maintain their hedgerows as the hedge cutting season begins today. They are being asked to ensure that hedge cutting is carried out along public roads to ensure that roadside hedges and trees do not present as hazardous for road users.
Hedge cutting is permitted over a six month period from the 1st of September to the last day of February. Co Cavan Councillor, Noel Connell is reminding all landowners to carry out the necessary works as soon as possible. He says that the majority of farmers are proactive when it comes to hedge trimming.
