Gardaí and Monaghan County Council are reminding people that they can be fined for travelling outside their 5 kilometre limit.
It comes as checkpoints and patrols in Rossmore Park continue as part of Operation Fanacht.
During the course of the checkpoint at Rossmore Park Gardai engaged with the public using the graduated policing response and a number of visitors using vehicle transport were requested to return to their home as they were outside of their 5km radius.
Superintendent Pat O’Connell of Monaghan Garda District said “The public can expect to see an increase in Garda visibility in the area, particularly at weekends and we would ask the public intending to use the facility to comply with all of the existing public health advice in respect of gatherings, social distancing, hygiene and travel limits which are in place by virtue of the Level 5 Restrictions”.
Outdoor playgrounds, play areas and parks are permitted to be open during Level 5 restrictions, with Monaghan County Council saying only people who live within 5km of them should use the facilities.
Under Covid-19 regulations, a €100 fixed charge notice can be issued to people who breach travel restrictions and refuse to follow Garda direction to return home.
