Tens of thousands of public sector workers are marching across Northern Ireland today, calling for better pay.Major rallies have been taking place in towns and cities, with schools closed, bus and trains cancelled, and all but emergency procedures cancelled.
The Northern Ireland Secretary is being accused of holding public sector workers to political ransom.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is calling on Chris Heaton-Harris to release funds intended for the sector, so that a pay deal to be reached. Up to 170,000 workers are going on strike today, with some civil servants waiting over three years for a revised pay agreement.
ICTU General Secretary Owen Reidy says it's not good enough.
