€500,000 has been earmarked for works on the Ballynacarry Bridge in County Monaghan.
Monaghan County Council has been working with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to bring about funding for the new bridge on the N53 between in Culloville and Castleblayney.
A public consultation process will begin this evening in Culloville at the GAA community centre and a second consultation process will be held on Friday evening at the Castleblayney Convention Centre. Local councillor Aidan Campbell says these public events will give landowners an opportunity to see the plans that are being purposed for the bridge.
This particular bridge has been a matter of concern for councils over a long number of years. Cllr. Campbell welcomes the positive announcement and says funding will be also needed from the Northern Ireland government.
