A public consultation on the Dublin Street regeneration project in Monaghan town will get underway tomorrow.
13 million euro was announced for the project last month, which it's hoped will go towards reinvigorating the town centre.
As part of the plans, Monaghan County Council hopes to demolish a number of buildings to open access to the 'Backlands' area.
This will then be incorporated into the new civic space.
There was criticism on social media of plans to demolish the birth place of Charles Gavan Duffy, a well-known poet and journalist who served as Premier of the Australian state of Victoria.
However, the Council says a report it commissioned found the building was of "little architectural significance".
The public consultation will begin tomorrow and run until the 14th of May.
