Public asked to help Gardai with assaults, robberies and break ins across Monaghan

Gardai in Monaghan are appealing to the public for help in solving a number of crimes that occurred across the county in the past four weeks. Anyone who noticed anything suspicious on the night of of October the 4th last between the hours of 4pm and 8pm in Castleblayney is being asked to get in touch.

On the night three burglaries took place - two occurred on the Shercock Road, the third at a premises on the Dundalk Road. Cash and jewellery were taken during the break ins.

During the weekend of the 15th and 16th of October a double axel Ivor Williams trailer was stolen from a farm at Aughnacloy in Smithboro. Gardai are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was offered the trailer to buy.

On the 8th of October last an assault took place in a licenced premises along main street in Castleblayney. The incident happened at approximately 10:40pm and the woman involved received facial injuries.

Gardai are appealing to the public to help identify the culprit. Gardai also want to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in Clones on the night of the 23rd of October last to make contact with them.

On the night two assaults took place. The first happened at the Diamond at approximately 1:30am when a young man making his way home was punched in the head and knocked to the ground. While the youth wasn't seriously injured, a similar incident occurred on the same night at the top of Fermanagh Street.

Gardai in Clones are particularly interested in speaking to members of the public who saw a group of men in the area at the time of the incidents. Meanwhile, Gardai are advising homeowners not to keep cash in their homes and to keep premises lit up as the dark nights draw in.
