Issues in the horticulture sector will be highlighted at a protest in Dublin today.
Changes to regulations around the harvesting of peat are having knock-on effects on the industry, according to producers.
Local representatives have highlighted concerns over the potential impact the changes could have on the sector.
Thousands of people are employed in horticulture, which includes the mushroom sector, in Cavan and Monaghan.
The "No Peat, No Produce" campaign will protest outside the Convention Centre today to call on the Government to introduce changes.
Producers claim they are forced to import peat moss for the production process, which it says defeats the purpose of introducing the regulations around peat harvesting.
Peat moss is widely used in the sector, particularly by mushroom growers.
However, the Government says there are alternatives that can be used instead of peat moss.
