Hundreds of hospitality workers will protest outside the Dáil later saying their industry is broken and in crisis.

The organisers say they will march to the Dáil this afternoon in protest at the Government’s failure to recognise that they are an industry in crisis.

Black smoke was seen billowing from the building, which is currently under renovation with plans to accommodate up to 500 international protection applicants. 

The staff, are on day eight of a protest to highlight their demand that a Labour Court recommendation on their pay and conditions is respected.

The parents would like members of the public to come to their protest and sign a petition calling for a special needs school, dedicated respite and day care centres for County Monaghan.

A group from the Special Needs Active Parents (SNAP) group staged a peaceful but visible protest at the event to highlight the lack of respite care, day centre and special needs school in County Monaghan.

Eir workers had attempted to erect the mast, 12ft away from a child's bedroom.

Locals protested and managed to prevent the mast going ahead and up on 40 locals arrived at the location again this morning.
