Proposals for new SEN classrooms at Edenmore National School have been put to the Department of Education.
The north Monaghan school had been the centre of a public campaign, after it had initially been refused permission for an extension due to flood concerns.
Almost one year ago there were concerns that the "Le Cheile" unit at Edenmore National School would be forced to close, after a planning application for a permanent building was rejected.
Planners noted that there's a flood risk at the school, and the existing temporary SEN rooms would need to close too.
This led to a campaign by the school, parents and politicians to find a solution that would keep the services in the area.
The Department of Education left the project with CMETB to bring it to the design phase.
A CMETB spokesperson confirmed to Northern Sound News that it has presented a proposal to the Department, and a meeting is being arranged to have it considered.
