To celebrate a new cultural partnership between Monaghan County Council and Project Children, a screening of 'How to Defuse a Bomb' will take place this week. The Project Children Story is an award-winning documentary narrated by Liam Neeson and also features Bill Clinton. The documentary which tells the extraordinary story of how an NYPD cop helped bring peace to Northern Ireland will be shown at the Garage Theatre in Monaghan this Friday.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Liam Bradley of Monaghan County Museum confirmed that the new Peace Campus in Monaghan will also store a series of priceless artefacts belonging to 'Project Children' as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. He added that the central focus of this initiative is to bring people from different backgrounds together and to offer a shared space where everyone is welcome. "Project Children was an opportunity to bring people somewhere they felt safe, somewhere they didn't feel judged or seen as different and that's exactly what the Peace Campus in Monaghan is all about," explained Liam. "The central focus of the Peace Campus in Monaghan is bringing people from different cultural, political, economic and social backgrounds to a safe space, somewhere everyone can be treated the same and are made feel welcome, and like Project Children it brings people together from different backgrounds and the whole idea is to get people talking."
