A Professor of Health Systems says it's very likely Ireland will have some cases of Monkeypox, but the health service is ready to take action.
The World Health Organisation has confirmed 80 cases of the virus across the world, with an extra 50 being investigated in Europe.
The infection is mainly mild, and up to now the majority of cases were in west and central Africa.
