The man found guilty of killing a Lisnaskea father of two by dangerous driving has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison.
Handing down the jail sentence to Vladimir Kovac, who also lives in Lisnaskea, the judge told the defendant he "had ripped the heart out of a young family".
The victim, Barry McManus, had just become a father for the second time, when he was killed instantly as he sat in his parked car on the Belfast Road near Brookeborough on 11 June 2022.
The day of Mr McManus's death was also "cruelly" the date of his wife's birthday.
Mr McManus had pulled his Renault Megane car onto the hard shoulder on the Belfast Road when it was struck by Kovac's car.
Records showed Kovac was using his phone in the time up to the collision and that his accelerator pedal was fully depressed for the five second period before the collision, increasing his speed from 80mph to 95mph.
Handing down sentence, Judge Richard Greene KC said the victim's car was severely damaged in the collision and the driver's door had been ripped off.
Mr McManus was slumped forward and died instantaneously having sustained serious head injuries.
The first officer to speak with Kovac found him intoxicated and he admitted drinking earlier.
When police called to the family home to inform them of Mr McManus' tragic death, his wife opened the door with the couple's three-week-old baby in her arms.
A police officer had to hold the infant as Mrs McManus was consumed with shock.
In her victim impact statement to the court, Mrs McManus described the difficulty of seeing the man who killed her husband around the area where she lived, when her husband was gone.
The couple's daughter also gave a "heart-rending" note to the court.
Kovac was jailed for nine-and-a-half years to be served half in custody and half on licence and disqualified from driving for 10 years.
Concluding,
Judge Greene told the victim's family, "These are always difficult cases, including for judiciary. My heart goes out to you."
