Price of three bed semi up 7% in 12 months locally

Joe Brady from REA Brady in Carrick-on-Shannon says despite the high prices, it's still far cheaper to buy from existing stock than to build a house.

The price of a three bed semi-detached house in Cavan and Monaghan has increased by around 7% in a year.

According to a new REA report, the average price of a three bed semi in Cavan now stands at €192,500

This is up from €177,500 the same time last year.

In Monaghan, the average price is much higher at €235,000, up from €220,000 in 2023.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Joe Brady from REA Brady in Carrick-on-Shannon says despite the high prices, it's still far cheaper to buy from existing stock than to build a house.

He added that this is a contributing factor to increasing prices.
