The cost of a stamp is rising again. From February 27th the cost of posting a letter will jump by 25 cent to €1.65.
An Post says its needed because operating costs are rising while the number of letters posted has fallen by 8 per cent in the past year.
Aontú party leader Peadar Tobin says it will hit businesses and older people the hardest: "The older demographic send far more letters than younger people," he said, "so these individuals will be hit so, I'm calling on the Government to focus on looking at what's driving the costs and seeing if this semi-state can make sure that costs are reduced".
