Electric Ireland is cutting its prices for both gas and electricity.
1.1 million customers are set to benefit as electricity tariff's are cut by 10 per cent and gas by 12 per cent.
It represents a combined saving of 428 euro for the firms dual-fuel customers

However the new rates won't come into effect until November 1st. The government is being urged not to increase VAT on energy amid an "energy crisis".
