Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fail TD Deputy Brendan Smith, says the US president's visit will have a positive impact on the region. He pointed out that the President is very likely to encourage those involved in the political institutions to work together for the people they represent.
Deputy Smith says the President will also be focused on the economic potential for the region from Irish America. He pointed out that opportunity exists for better education and better living standards in Northern Ireland, and President Biden will highlight that.
Deputy Smith added that Northern Ireland's market potential as a result of the Windsor Framework will also be brought into focus by the US President. "I'm sure he will be giving a message that Ireland needs to realise the potential of the Good Friday Agreement.
"The potential has not yet been realised. That will only be fully realised when we have the Northern Ireland Assembly meeting; the Northern Ireland Executive established; and the North South Ministerial Council all working together to face the challenges that confront people throughout our country and working together in the best interests of all communities," he said.
