A number of premises in Cavan and Monaghan have found themselves without power today following strong winds overnight. ESB Networks confirmed there are "a couple of small outages" which they put down to their "experience of a blustery winter's day".
The utility company says it is in a "business as usual stance" responding to faults as they occur and they advise people without electricity to visit the Powercheck.ie website for estimated restoration times.
The website is reporting businesses in Errigal, Carrickaboy and Knockatallon without power at present. 84 are without power near Cootehill, as well as 14 in Telaydon. 43 properties near Ballyjamesduff have had their power restored this morning while 16 premises are awaiting power restoration in Carigallen.
Winds of up to 67km per hour were recorded at the Ballyhaise weather station yesterday together with 8.8 mm of rainfall in the County Cavan area. Forecaster Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel is predicting wind speeds of between 90 and 100 km per hour for a time on Sunday in this region.
