Gardaí in Castleblayney attended the incident shortly after 8am this morning.

A pylon and wires fell over on the Main Street area of Ballybay overnight or this morning. Gardaí in Castleblayney attended the incident shortly after 8am this morning after a Northern Sound listener contacted this station to alert others of the obstruction.

Gardaí subsequently attended Main Street and confirmed they were dealing with the incident. The ESB manager for the area has confirmed there are no reports of damaged ESB Networks infrastructure in or near Ballybay and a spokesperson said "so more than likely that is a telecommunications pole."

Meanwhile, 77 customers in the Drumbear area of Monaghan were without power last night. According to the ESB's Power Check website the fault was reported to them around 9pm last night. Power was expected to be restored by midnight.
