A pop up swimming pool is set to be up and running in Carrickmacross by early September.
Swim Ireland with Monaghan County Council and Monaghan Local Sports Partnership plan on having the facility in the town for 6 months.
Expressions of interests have been issued to secure qualified swim teachers and lifeguards to help run programmes for different groups within the community. School swimming, evening and weekend swimming lessons, community groups and private hires will be available.
Applications for the positions that will be created are closing this Friday the 17th of May. Cllr Colm Carthy says that is has taken a long time to get the pop up pool secured for Carrickmacross but he says it will be very welcome come September to the town.
