A pop-up Covid testing centre is opening in Virginia to help the HSE learn more about the spread of the virus locally.
County Cavan has the third highest 14-day incidence rate in Ireland, with the Bailieborough-Cootehill and Ballyjamesduff areas in particular seeing large increases.
The pop-up test centre will be open to the public from 10am to 6pm tomorrow and Saturday at the Show Centre in Virginia.
Dr Keith Ian Quintyne from the Department of Public Health North East says it'll help them understand where the virus is spreading.
Outbreaks in food plants are thought to be the reason for an increased rate of Covid-19 in Cavan and Monaghan.
Monaghan continues to have the highest 14 day incidence rate in the country, almost three times the national average.
Dr Quintyne says they've seen a breakdown in the basic advice of mask wearing and social distancing.
He told Shannonside Northern Sound that there are trends appearing locally.
