A pop-up Covid test centre is to open in Monaghan town this weekend after warnings of an increase in cases locally.
The HSE yesterday urged people to continue to follow public health advice amid a "concerning" and "rapid" increase in cases.
County Monaghan has the second highest Covid incidence rate in the country with the HSE describing the situation as concerning.
It's today announced that a pop-up test centre is to open on Saturday and Sunday at St Joseph's Pastoral Centre in Monaghan town.
It will be open from 10am to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
The HSE has told Northern Sound that people will have the option to book an appointment or to turn up and wait at the centre.
It says there has been an increase in the number of Covid cases among younger people in particular in the county, with small clusters of cases from house gatherings being the main contributor.
Anyone attending the centre will need to bring a photo ID and provide a mobile phone number in order to provide test results.
