Police in the North say they’re continuing to investigate a security alert at Wattlebridge last week.
They’ve dismissed claims that a PSNI helicopter was shot at on Thursday.
The Continuity IRA claims to have planted a suspected explosive device on the Wattlebridge Road area of Newtownbutler on Wednesday night.
The N54 between Clones and Leggykelly was closed for a period on Thursday to allow for a search of the area.
The CIRA later claimed that it had fired shots at a police helicopter on Thursday morning, something the PSNI say there’s no evidence of.
The investigation into the alert continues, with Superintendent Alywin Barton condemning the claims and the actions of those “who attempt to damage our communities”.
In August 2019, police said dissident republicans were behind a "deliberate attempt" to murder officers when a real bomb detonated after a hoax device loured PSNI and the Army to a similar location to the recent alert.
Members of the public are asked to be vigilant, report any information immediately and not touch any suspicious objects.
