People are being encouraged to plant a tree in memory of a loved one this weekend in Virginia. Local Councillor TP O Reilly has offered 3 acres to be planted to raise funds for of Virginia Cancer Fund. The initiative has come about after the Fine Gael Councillor cut down several trees along his farms roadside.
He said that planting of native woodland on the local lands will allow trees to be there for generations to come in memory of loved ones that have died due to cancer. The tree planting event is taking place from 10am on Saturday morning at Ardlow in Virginia, Eircode A82 YD 62. The local councillor said the planting event is great for the environment but also great for people that want to plant a tree in memory of a loved one.
"We encouraging people to come along on the day," said Cllr O'Reilly. "There'll be a coffee dock there for and for anyone who wants to come along and plant a tree in memory of a loved one, people who come will also receive a certificate on the day to say the date you've planted it and there will be a list of all the different trees planted on the day. It will be a great event to come along to for a bit of fun and to meet people."
