Plans are underway to develop cycle lanes in Carrickmacross and Castleblayney.
The south-Monaghan MD recently secured funding under Active Travel Measures to construct two cycle lanes in Castleblayney and one in Carrickmacross.
Lanes with a minimum width of 1.75 metres will be installed along the Monaghan Road and Dublin Road in Castleblayney and the R927 in Carrickmacross town.
There's also funding to improve crossings in Carrickmacross, to install bike lockers in Monaghan town, Carrickmacross and Clones and to install a mass cycle storage unit in Monaghan town.
Public consultation on the design and construction of the cycle lanes in Carrickmacross and Castleblayney is expected to get underway shortly.
