Sinn Fein's Colm Carthy says the sale of the Nuremore Hotel will be of "huge benefit" to members of the public who have used this local amenity for decades. The landmark hotel and golf resort is set to undergo a significant refurbishment, with plans to create over 100 new jobs, revitalize the surrounding area, and establish Nuremore as a premier destination for both local visitors and international tourists. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Colm Carthy says the economic benefits to having the likes of Nuremore on our doorstep in South Monaghan is massive for the area and was a "huge miss" over the last number of years.
Cllr Carthy says he looks forward to seeing it brought back to its former glory and to hopefully become a key destination for anyone seeking to travel in Ireland in the future: "We've all missed having the Nuremore for the last few years and it now looks like it will not only reopen but will be brought back to the high standard it once was. The whole of South Monaghan will be delighted to hear this news today. I look forward to seeing it brought back to its former glory and hopefully be a key destination for anyone seeking to travel in Ireland into the future. I do believe with the support of state agencies and the local authority, we can work to promote the hotel as a place to come and visit or stay, then I think we'll make good use of it into the future."
