Lidl have applied for planning permission to Monaghan County Council for a new store in Carrickmacross.
The plans submitted in recent days are to knock the current supermarket and replace it with an entirely new store.
If the green light if given, the German outlet will demolish the existing discount store, which totals 1,631 sqm and replace it with a new, larger store, totalling 2,529 sqm gross floor space.
Also included in the plans is the redevelopment and reconfiguration of the existing site layout, car parking and hard and soft landscaping, with reconfigured vehicular accesses from the existing access road to Oriel Road and reconfigured pedestrian access from the Ardee Road.
Submissions will be accepted on this purposed development up until the 3rd of October with county planners expected to decide on the application towards the end of next month.
