Plans for a new telecommunications mast in Clontibret, Co Monaghan have been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The mast was approved by Monaghan County Council in July but has since been appealed by the applicant and local residents.
Cigal Infrastructure Ltd has applied to build the 36 metre mast in Carrickaderry, Clontibret.
It was approved by Monaghan Council in July, subject to a number of conditions.
The development has now been appealed to the planning board by Cignal Infrastructure and local residents Alan and Caroline Tate and Martin and Diane Tate.
In submissions made by the residents to Monaghan County Council they claim there is no need for the mast as the area already has good mobile phone and internet coverage.
They also claim electromagnetic waves from the mast would impact on human health and that of local wildlife, as well as leading to a devaluation of property.
The case is due to be decided by An Bord Pleanála by the 23rd of December.
