Plans for works on a local river to improve breeding conditions for Salmon and Trout are before Monaghan County Council. Inland Fisheries Ireland are seeking planning permission for the reconstruction and configuration of existing stone structures in the River Fane at Magoney near Inniskeen.
This would also include the moving and loosening of existing spawning gravels, with works being carried out on a 2.3km stretch of the river. This is all to improve general habitat and breeding conditions for Atlantic Salmon and Brown Trout. Planners will decide on the issue in September.
