Plans are in place to create a public memorial in Cavan Town to honour the orphanage fire victims.
The Cavan Orphanage fire happened on the 23rd of February in 1943, at St Joseph's Orphanage.
35 children and 1 adult employee died as a result.
It's hoped that a memorial can be created in time for the 80th anniversary of the tragedy, which will be next February.
Several local politicians attended a public meeting this week to discuss the next steps in creating the memorial.
