Designs to replace a roundabout at a busy Monaghan town junction have been submitted to Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The Monaghan Municipal District is working on improving safety at the Margaret Skinnader roundabout in the town.
It says it hopes the current roundabout will be replaced, with an increase in the width of footpaths and better crossing facilities put in place.
The plans must be approved by TII as the roundabout - which is also known as The Magic Roundabout - is on the main N54 route.
Pending approval it's expected works will take place next year.
