Major upgrades to Kingspan Breffni Park have been given the green light.
Brand new stands, a museum, sensory rooms, and more will aim to revitalise the home of Cavan GAA. The plans lodged by the Cavan County Board called for the demolition of the existing concrete terraces to both sides of the existing covered stand building. These are set to be replaced with a brand new three-storey spectator stand which will contain spectator seating, new entrances and turnstiles, as well as player and officials changing areas Also included are toilets, first aid rooms, media and administrative offices, a handball court, a new museum, hospitality and bar area, a sensory room, and meeting room. Outside of this a new entrance plaza adjacent to the car park area, solar carports, signage, and lighting made up the final part of the application. €19 million was also allocated recently for phase 1 of the Cavan Regional Sports Complex, which is set to be located at Kingspan Breffni. Planning permission for the revitalisation of Cavan GAA's home ground was granted with 22 conditions attached.
