The newly published Government report that recommended a new rail line to link Cavan and Armagh has been described as a 'gamechanger'.
The recommendation was included in the All Island Strategic Railway Review published last week. Among the recommendations is the reinstatement of the railway between Athlone and Portadown.
This would include stops in Cavan, Clones, Monaghan, Armagh and Portadown, allowing links to Belfast. Local TD Deputy Niamh Smyth says a rail service for the region would be a game changer for the locality.
She says that it would allow for the region to prosper on so many levels.
