Plans for a new school in Rockcorry have gone to tender.
Minister Norma Foley has approved progress on the five classroom school project yesterday.
The community had been campaigning for a new school building for two decades, with funding and a design team announced in the past two years.
Permission for the new two-storey development was approved last October.
The news of the tender process beginning has been welcomed by local Oireachtas members Senator Robbie Gallagher, Deputy Niamh Smyth and Minister Heather Humphreys.
