Significant improvements will be carried out at the Dromore Blueway subject to planning permission. Monaghan County Council has lodged an application with An Bord Pleanála for significant enhancements including a play park, adding picnic tables and renewing the scenic area's slipways.
The plans include renewing and widening the slipways at Balladian Bridge, Baird’s Shore and Ballybay Wetlands. There is also plans for a proposed floating pontoon at Lough Major.
If permission is granted, the council has big plans for the facilities at Ballynascarva Bridge as they want to widen the slipway there, add a play area and a car park and remove the height restriction gate. .
