A Cavan based wind energy company is seeking planning permission for the construction of an energy storage system in Aghaway.
Gaeltech is seeking a ten-year planning permission for the project, which will have a lifespan of 25 years.
Gaeltech is seeking permission for an energy storage system that will comprise of a single storey control building with palisade fencing of close to three metres, in addition to containerised energy storage modules placed on concrete plinth foundations.
The works will also include heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, underground electrical and telecommunications cabling, an electrical transformer and inverter modules, and a CCTV security system.
It is proposed that the energy storage system will have a lifespan of 25 years, with a full decommission taking place after this period.
A decision on the project is expected by the 27th of August and submissions must be made by the 6th of August.
