Plans for an electricity substation and 22km of cables in north Monaghan have been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
Coolberrin Wind Ltd had been granted planning permission for the project by Monaghan County Council in 2019 but they have been appealed by An Taisce.
This project would see a new 38kv substation built in the Luppan area of north Monaghan.
Cables 22km in length would then run from that substation through Monaghan to the existing electricity substation at Lisdrumdoagh to the south east of Monaghan town.
The plans had been given the go ahead by Monaghan Council in September 2019.
However, they had been appealed to the planning board by An Taisce and the board says that appeal has now been 'reactivated'.
In its submission to the local authority, An Taisce raised concerns about the potential impact on hen harrier populations in the general area around Luppan as the site is less than 2km from the Special Area of Conservation in Slieve Beagh.
It also says there is the potential to impact on curlew populations in the vicinity.
An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision by August 11th.
