There are plans for restrictions on HGVs travelling into the centre of Monaghan town.
The local Municipal District is drawing up plans for restrictions after calls for years for a ban on certain streets.
Under the plans, HGVs would be banned from Dublin Street, Glaslough Street, Market Street, Park Street, High Street, Mall Road and Canal Street.
The MD is to engage with TII, Gardaí and hauliers before the plan is finalised.
Deliveries to businesses in the town centre using HGVs would be permitted at certain times during the day.
Local Councillor Raymond Haughey has called for the ban in recent years as some lorry are choose to travel through the town rather than using the bypass:
