A major housing development in Monaghan has been refused planning permission. The plans would have seen 50 new houses built in Carrickmacross. Tullyagan Properties Limited initially applied to Monaghan County Council in September for the construction of the dwellings on the Drumconrath Road in Magheross. Plans included 22, two-bed, two-storey semi-detached houses, eight two-bed semi detached bungalows, ten three-bed, three storey semi detached dwellings, eight four-bed, two storey semi-detached houses, and two, five-bed two storey, detached dwellings.
Also included was is the construction of a new vehicular entrance and all associated site works. Monaghan County Council refused the application on two conditions. One condition stated the application failed to display that the proposed entrance would provide adequate visibility onto the L-4800. The second condition pointed out that the applicants failed to provide a water quality impact assessment, meaning that the effect of the development on the water environment couldn't be assessed.
