Planning permission has been refused to redevelop a large retail and office building in Carrickmacross into residential accommodation. Boylesports lodged plans last June to reconfigure a two and three storey building above its existing betting store in the town.
The betting firm applied to repurpose the building into a one bedroom and two separate two bedroom apartments alongside alterations to the ground floor access to its current premises.
The proposed development, which was within the curtilage of a protected structure, also included plans for a revised vehicular entrance to the existing car parking area, footpaths and all associated works. In the months leading up to the decision Monaghan County Council sought further information in relation to the plans submitted.
