Planning permission is being sought for repair and refurbishment works to the Holy Family Church in Emyvale, Co Monaghan.
The planning application notes that the condition of the church building has been a cause for concern since 2007, and that a report in 2017 "identified significant repair and refurbishment was required".
The Church is a protected structure, and the works would include the demolition of the sacristy, which would be replaced with an extension containing a meeting room and new toilet facilities.
A temporary toilet building will also be replaced with a "traditional build" single-storey extension to house a new sacristy.
The Holy Family Church say they works are needed so that the building can be used by future generations.
