Planning permission has been granted for replacement windows to be installed at a Co Cavan school which is a protected structure.
The non-original windows at the front and rear of the former kitchen block of the Cavan Royal School in the townland of Lurganboy are set to be replaced with timber sash and casement windows.
The Cavan Royal School was founded in 1608 and designed by Francis Johnston.
The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage says the school building is a "very important example of one of Ireland's leading neo-classical architects".
An assessment of the works concluded that it "will have no impact on the historic fabric of the building".
