Planning permission has been granted for the construction of 14 semi-detached dwellings in Belturbet.
The 14, three-bed houses will be built on a site on Corporation Lands.
Submissions were received which raised concerns about its potential impact on biodiversity in the area.
Concern was also raised about the number of vacant properties in the town, and claimed Belturbet is "blighted by ghost estate developments" and that there is "insufficient evidence of a projected growth in population to support" this development.
However, a statement of housing need pointed towards "significant growth" in Cavan's housing market and said there is a "clear need" for these units.
The developer also included a Natura Impact statement on how it plans to deal with environmental concerns.
