Planning permission has been lodged for major works at a Cavan school. Bailieborough community school has applied to Cavan County Council to construct a new three story extension consisting of 10 classrooms at their site on the Virginia Road.
Also included in the works is an extension to the existing school to incorporate an enlarged General Purpose Hall and a new link to the existing SEN unit. A new ball court, 20 sheltered bike spaces and 90 parking spaces are also proposed along with 4 bus set down areas.
50 south facing photovoltaic panels are being sought to add to the roof of the building, with the application stating any excess generation will be sold back to the grid. A decision on the application is expected in September.
